Bucks Quarter Friends Gather at Bristol Meeting
For the first time in many years Bucks Quarter Friends held their quarterly meeting at the historic Bristol Friends meetinghouse, located in the borough of Bristol, PA.
The meeting was founded in the early 1700s and has experienced fluctuations in membership throughout its over 300-year history. Currently a preparative meeting under the care of Fallsington Meeting, under the care of their clerk, Alisa Myles, they are growing in membership and doing outreach to the community, including a summer Art Camp this past August, and a Tree Celebration in April.
At this Quarterly Meeting, they hosted Doug Miller, site administrator at Pennsbury Manor, who spoke on William Penn and the founding of Pennsylvania. His talk can be viewed on YouTube:
After a robust lunch of chili, salads, and dessert provided by both Bristol and Fallsington meetings, Friends gathered for business. Doylestown, Makefield, and Quakertown meetings gave their annual reports, highlighting activities and accomplishments at their meetings over the past year. Friends Camp Association presented their annual report, and the Outreach Committee presented a series of 6 banners that they are making available to all the monthly meetings.
Quarterly meeting always provides a place for fellowship for Bucks Quarter Friends, and all are encouraged to attend; the next gathering will be on May 18, 2025, at Buckingham Friends Meeting, where the PYM Eco Justice Collaborative will be presenting. All are welcome to join.
