Don't Leave a Mess When You Go

  • Newtown Friends Meeting 219 Court Street Newtown, PA 18940 (map)

No one gets out of this life alive. But many of us fail to plan for the inevitable. To help us think through some of these difficult decisions, Susan Hoskins, a member of Newtown Friends Meeting, is offering a workshop about the steps necessary to not leave a mess for your loved ones when you go.

This workshop is for anyone who is concerned about a parent/friend/family member who has not done advance planning, or maybe even for YOU!  You never know when it will be needed, but she guarantees it will be a mess if you don’t do it.

Susan will cover issues in planning ahead for end of life including:

  • Advance directives for health and finances

  • Designating beneficiaries

  • Wills & Executor

  • Important documents- lists of accounts, passwords, etc.

  • HIPPA release

  • Having the conversation with family

  • Decluttering

  • Other aspects of planning

Susan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and aging services professional. She is the Executive Director of the Friends Foundation for the Aging, providing small grants to organizations (mostly Quaker, mostly mid-Atlantic) that are having an impact for aging adults. She was previously the Executive Director of the Princeton Senior Resource Center where the agency more than tripled in size during her tenure. She presented a workshop on Aging and Spirituality at the July 2024 Friends General Conference Gathering at Haverford College.
